Subhead

In 2006, Scott and I moved to New Hampshire. But as time passed, our family grew. In 2010, we welcomed our son Jesse. Our little Lady Becca graced us in 2013.

With our lives happening at least 700 miles away from family and life-long friends, we love for you to follow along with us as our little ones grow.

Strong Little Man

Jesse continues to LOVE to stand up.  He is getting some balance too.  Here he is standing up on his own (against the couch).

Miserable weekend

It is said that all bad things come in threes.  For us, we got all three at the same time this past weekend: cold, teething and growth spurt.

Jesse started with a cough last Thursday, which turned into a full fledged cold on Friday, with low grade fever and everything.  Thankfully it has subsided a bit by Sunday.  However on Saturday the teething pains kicked in full force.  No tooth showing yet, but we can feel/see a bump on his lower.  So everything (and  I mean everything) goes into his mouth for a good chomp.  On top of all of this, he is due for another growth spurt.  There were some symptoms of this as well over the weekend.  But with everything going on, it was hard to identify the symptom with the cause.

We hit the peak early Sunday morning, when we awoke at 2:45 AM with a screaming baby.  He was up till almost 4 AM and was completely inconsolable.  Only for him to awaken again at 6 AM until 6:45 in another fit.  We tried the swing in a last attempt (before moving to the car ride) and thankfully at 6:45 it worked.  Jesse slept in the swing till 11 AM, with Mom and Dad following suit, each on a couch.

However, relatively speaking we still have a relatively happy baby, minus the night times.  Just keep the nasal aspirator away from him and don't wipe his nose, and all was good.

Following in Mom's foot steps?

So last Tuesday (2-1), Jesse started to knowingly stick his tongue out.  The cutest thing.  Scott loves it.  He playfully grabs Jesse's tongue whenever he does it.

I am waiting to see if he will be like me.  I unknowingly stick my tongue out while I am working on something or deep in thought.  While growing up, my father used to kid that I was going to bite my tongue off.  He still does tease me about this.  Time will tell if my little man does the same.

Big Boy Seat

I forgot to mention that we have officially moved to the convertible car seat.  The seat was purchased on 2-20, but we didn't officially use it till Saturday 2-26-11.  Jesse seems to like it.  More space for him.  We are missing the bundle me, as we now have to put him into a snow suit whenever we leave the house.

We decided to go with the evenflo.  We liked the cup holders in the graco, but after talking to a very helpful associate at Babys R Us, she recommended the evenflo over the graco.  We just couldn't justify the price tag for the britax.

Barber Shop

On Saturday morning, both of my guys got hair cuts.  Here is Jesse and his first haircut.  Scott and I cut it ourselves.  We think he now looks so much older.

We were calling him Friar Tuck all weekend.  The third picture down may help you to understand why.

First food

Here are a couple of pictures of Jesse's first impressions of food.  We introduced rice cereal first.  There are some pics from Saturday (1st time) and Sunday (2nd time).  Scott took much better pictures on Sunday than I did on Saturday.  On Saturday, Jesse is wearing the 'Chick's Dig Me' bib and has longer hair.

Fun filled weekend

This past weekend was full of new and exciting things!

Friday (2/25), during the day, we lost power again for a few hours.  I was working from home, so no power made it tough for work.  (Is it sad that we are starting to get a pretty good routine down when we loose power?)  Friday evening Jesse and I skyped with my father, to wish him Happy Birthday.

Saturday (2/26) was a big day for Jesse.  We started food with Jesse.  It was only rice cereal, but was a big event for us.  He didn't hate it, which was good.  I think he is still trying to figure it out.  After his morning nap, Jesse then got his first hair cut.  Finally, we rounded out the day with skype.  We skyped with my Mother and Scott's Father and his step mother.  It was nice that they get to see how big he is getting.  He even rolled over for Ed and Nancy.

Sunday (2/27) started out snowy.  Once we took care of cleaning up from another snowfall, we headed over to Morgan, Brice and Emma's for lunch. (A girlfriend from my prego classes.)  They have a condo in the old mill buildings in downtown Newmarket, so it was cool to get to see the units inside.  They too were remodeling during pregnancy.  There place is really nice and lunch was great!  Thanks again Brice and Morgan.  Jesse had fun playing with Emma's new toys too!

Let the movement begin

Jesse officially rolled back to front unassisted, for the first time yesterday afternoon.  (He has been rolling front to back since 2 months.)

Scott left Jesse playing on his back on the floor in the living room and went into the kitchen to get his lunch.  When he came back, Jesse was on his stomach, on top of a toy.  (We believe he used the toy to help him roll over.)  Scott flipped him back over.  Jesse then proceeded to spend the next 20 minutes trying to roll over.  Scott was so thoughtful and recorded it for me.  I got a video message at work, announcing that he rolled over.

By the time I got home last night, Jesse was rolling around like a pro!

Power Outage

Due to all the wind last night, we lost power for about 8 hours today.  We are soo thankful that it was only 8 hours.  It seems like every time we loose power, it is for multiple days.

Jesse didn't even seem to notice any difference.  The biggest change for him was when the power went out at 3 am, we went upstairs and brought him into bed with us.  This was for two reasons: 1.) he sleeps upstairs on the opposite side of the house and no power = no monitor.  2.) the upstairs is typically a little cooler and with no power = no heat.

Tummy time

Every evening, before Jesse's bath, we have tummy time.  I am amazed at how he is already trying to get his legs under him to crawl.  He seems to love his evening tummy time when he is bum naked.  He hasn't completely mastered rolling back to front yet.  He still gets stuck up on his lower arm.  He has mastered pulling himself over, if there is something to grab a hold of.  Last weekend, he grabbed a hold of one of the little girls at the play date to help him roll over.

He is in a diaper here.  I decided not to post the naked videos.  If I would of posted one of those, I could just hear Scott now, 'he will hate you when he is older for doing this'.

He is in a good mood and talking here, even if it doesn't sound like it.  In case you are wondering, yes - it is Jesse letting them rip in the video.

Happy Valentine's Day

Here's hoping everyone had a nice Valentine's Day.

Finger Painting...ok feet painting

Jesse made his Valentine's Cards this year.  It was our first attempt at finger painting.  As you can see, the fingers didn't work so well, since they are constantly in his mouth now.  So we proceeded to foot paint.

For the record, the Valentine's Day Cards are still sitting on our dining room table.  I am determined to get them out this week, but are adding pictures to the blog instead of addressing them.

Play date

When I was pregnant, I took a maternity yoga and swim class.  I loved it and highly recommend it.  Not only was it great physical activity while pregnant, but I made a lot of friends from it too.  We still all get together for play dates.  The play date has evolved to weekends, as we all go back to work.  They have also become family events.  Keep in mind though, the guys sneak off and play poker.

The kids ages span,  with almost 4 months difference between Jesse (5 1/2 months), the oldest, and the youngest at 8 weeks old.  Thanks Stephanie and Slade for hosting!

Super Bowl 2011 - AKA Jiggle Bowl

Our friends Sara and Jack invited us to their annual super bowl party.  What makes it the jiggle bowl is they go out back and play a game of flag football before the big game.  Scott joined in on the game and was the MVP, scoring all 21 points for his team.  Jesse and I stayed in the house, watching from the sliding glass window.

Not sure if the photos illustrate this well, but when they started the game, the snow was waste deep.  Scott had on three or four layers of clothes.  By the second half, alot of the kids had joined in.  Scott had a blast playing.  Thanks Sara and Jack!

The Many faces of Jesse

Jesse was just being a ham one afternoon, so we grabbed the camera.  Thought they are cute...

Playing in the Snow

We have had a lot of snow this year.  So instead of being annoyed by it, we decided to enjoy it.  All three of us went out and played in it.  Jesse made a snow angel and went sled riding, with the help of Mom and Dad.

Just to note, our little guy is a bit of a chub.  However, the snow suit was way too big on him.  He really isn't that big...just yet.

Carpal Tunnel is back

Near the end of my pregnancy, I was starting to have issues with carpal tunnel in my wrists.  Since Jesse came early, I didn't think I would have to deal with it very long.  Unfortunately, I thought wrong.  I have been wearing a wrist brace all week in an attempt to prevent the pain.  I am sure it doesn't help that the little guy isn't so little at ~18 pounds.

More Snow

If you recall, at the beginning of January I posted stating we were excited to be getting snow.  We have consistently gotten at least one snow storm a week since then.  Needless to say, we aren't as excited for snow anymore.  Again this year, the piles along the driveway is soo tall that the snow blower is starting to have a hard time throwing it out of the way.

Here are some pictures of the snow on our deck.  The first picture is from before the latest storm.  You can barely see the patio furniture.  The second picture is after we got another 14 inches on groundhog day.

The forecast for this week is estimating another 4-8 inches on Saturday and more snow on Tuesday.  Skiing anyone?

Our first skype experience

We got a web camera for Christmas to skype with.  I finally got it set up (which was a sinch).  Jesse and I had our first experience with skype on Tuesday (2/1).  We skyped with Dawn and Sadie for about 20 minutes.  It was great getting to see Sadie.

Jesse got each grandparent a web cameras for Christmas.  Now we just need the grandparents to get skype set up so they can see Jesse first hand.  If anyone is interested in skyping, just let us know.

Almost ready for food

Jesse is at the stage where everything goes in his mouth to gnaw on.  So I thought I why not let him use the food bags/rings.  Since he isn't on any solid foods yet, I froze breast milk.  He seemed to like it and it wasn't as messy as I feared it could of been.
