Subhead

In 2006, Scott and I moved to New Hampshire. But as time passed, our family grew. In 2010, we welcomed our son Jesse. Our little Lady Becca graced us in 2013.

With our lives happening at least 700 miles away from family and life-long friends, we love for you to follow along with us as our little ones grow.

Help Please

We are getting close to starting food with Jesse.  I am looking for some good references to help with the process.  (We are hoping to make our own baby food.)  If you know of any good references, websites, books or articles, I would love if you would share it with me.  Thanks in advance!

Skype anyone?

We got a skype camera for Christmas, but have yet to use it.  If anyone is interested in skyping, I would love to try it.  Just let us know when and we will be there.

Brown Eyed Babe

This isn't for sure, but it is now appearing like Jesse is going to have brown eyes.  We are still seeing different colors, depending on the light source.  So much for mom's hopes of him having blue eyes.

Really moving now

Jesse isn't rolling from back to front just yet.  It isn't for a lack of trying though.  But he has become mobile.

Last week Scott set up his Jeep stroller and he LOVES it! He pushes himself all over the house and talks the entire time.  He goes forwards and backwards.  Just depends on the angle that he is positioned.  It has definately made us examine the house and it's lack of baby proofing.

Heaton Hair line

We are coming to grips with the fact that our son needs a hair cut.  Sooner than later, he will be getting a trim.  He didn't really loose his full head of hair that he was born with.  Instead, the hair has stayed in a patch and is moving forward on his head.  So he has really long hair above his ears and above his eyes.

The back however, has followed in the Heaton hair line.  Scott often looks at him and comments/teases Jesse how thin he is in the back (due to rubbing).  Then Scott looks at me, with concern on his face, and asks if his hairline looks the same.

Getting more vocal everyday

He has gotten soo much more vocal in the last week or so.  Two Sunday's ago (1/9/11) he woke up from a long nap (2.5 hours) and realized he had a voice and was going to use it all the time.  Previously, he talked occasionally.  Amazing how he grows and learns during his sleep!

Love this shirt

I think this shirt is too cute!  I think of you Gretchen every time he wears it.

Jesse's 1st Trip to the beach

I had Monday off (1/17/11), so we decided to go to the beach.  It was about 16 degrees out and sunny.  Needless to say, there was no sticking our toes in the water this trip.  We had to drive for quite a ways, before finding a place to park.  Most of the parking lots by the beach aren't plowed in the winter.

We finally decided which beach to stop at.  Since it was Jesse's first trip, we decided to go to the same beach were we went when we learned that we were having a boy.  We had a good time.

Snow and Ice

If you can believe that it is the middle of January and we really haven't been in a big storm.  There was a big storm in NH between Christmas and New Year's, but we were in Ohio.  Ohio has had some storms too, but we were in NH.  So we were kinda excited when we got snow last Wednesday 1/12/11.  We got 16+ inches in about 12 hours.

I worked from home.  Scott left the house to snow blow.  He did our driveway and the neighbors.  The neighbors were so appreciative, the invited us over for dinner.  So we all made the trek next door for pork chops.  Man were they good!  (Thanks again Yvette)  Scott still talks about how good they were.

Thursday morning, it was back to the city commute for me.  However, while getting on the train in the morning, I took a dive on the ice.  Landed on my hip/side.  Bruised almost instantly.  Still feeling it a week later, but it is getting easier to lay on that hip.  I am truly thankful it was only a bruise!

On the move...kinda

So Jesse can officially roll from front to back.  He hasn't quite mastered back to front.  He loves rolling to either side.  While rolling, both hands go into his mouth, which work like a brake to stop him.  He has, however, mastered the army crawl and rotating in a circle.  So, he may not always be in the exact spot you left him.

Last week was when Jesse really started to roll to his sides.  One of the first places he really started rolling was in his crib in the evenings.  One of the first evenings, we were so sure that he would roll over, that Scott hooked the video monitor up to the TV for us to watch.  It was exciting, but he never rolled over fully.

4 month check up

We had our four month appointment today.  Jesse is 20 weeks old and 17 lbs 8 ounces.  He is 26 inches long.  This puts him between the 75th and the 90th percentile.  Hence the name little chub!

He has also been fighting a pretty nasty cold.  It started last Thursday and really settled in over the weekend.  For a bit he had a fever with it.  Today was the third doctor's appointment in four business days.  Thankfully, the fever is gone, but the congestion still remains.  It is not surprising that Jesse now recognizes the saline and bulb syringe.  Needless to say, he is NOT a fan of it.  Until it passes, saline, bulb syringe and humidifiers are in our future.

Happy Baby

I thought this one was really cute, so I thought I would share.  This is how Jesse is +95% of the time...all smiles!  As Scott calls him, our happy baby.

Also wanted to note that Jesse is now able to roll from his back to either side.  He is getting close to being able to roll from his back to his front.  His belly has been too big up to this point to accomplish this.  He rolled from his front to his back at two months, then stopped for a while, because of the belly.

Daddy Time

As you can see, Jesse is loving spending so much time with Daddy.  Scott is a great father!  The cutest thing ...Scott sings the lost my meatball song (on top of spaghetti...) and Jesse absolutely adores it.  If he is fussing, it will bring him to smiles.  This just started on Wednesday.

Visit with Dawn and Sadie

We had a great visit with Dawn and Sadie on New Year's Day.  Sadie is 2 month's older than Jesse.  However, Jesse is as heavy or heavier than Sadie.  Sadie is still taller than Jesse, but she has two months on him.

Everyone in Ohio learned that we were expecting, when we came home for Dawn's baby shower.  It has been alot of fun watching the two of them together, because they are changing soo fast.  I love seeing what Sadie is doing, because Jesse is not far behind.

New Year's Eve

We spent New Year's Eve at Devin & Shell's new house.  Rob & T, Bryan & Kristen were there too.  We just had a low key evening, at least the girls did.  The kids lasted till about 10pm.  The guys decided to finish off a bottle of crown.  So needless to say, they felt it on New Year's Day.  It was a good time, as it always is whenever we get  together!

Church on Christmas Eve

We decided to go to the 10:30 pm church service on Christmas Eve.  Jesse was asleep, so we thought we would try it.  As soon as we got into the sanctuary, the organ woke him up.  We made it until the third song, a solo none-the-less, when Jesse let out a HUGE scream.  We quickly grabbed Jesse and made a bee-line out of there.  There is always next year.

Christmas Eve at the Heaton's

Finally, I downloaded the pictures from the latest Ohio visit.  Unfortunately, I wasn't very good at getting the camera out and taking pictures.  So we only have pictures from Christmas Eve, none of the other four visits.

Jesse started out completely dressed on Christmas Eve.  However, with the whole family in Grandma's house, it got hot quick.  Resulting in Jesse loosing layers.  Hence the redneck Christmas pictures.

Here Comes Santa Claus

Scott and I think this picture is adorable.  This was taken while getting ready for a friend's Christmas party at the beginning of December.  Jesse was in his Santa outfit that Grandma Kuntzman bought him.  Everyone thought he was so cute in it.  Scott's quote that he associated with the picture, shortly after taking it was: 'Dad says that there is more than one way to have a happy baby'.

Some favorite pics

I didn't take a ton of pictures over Christmas.  So I thought I would add a couple of my favorites.  These were all taken between 2.5 to 3.5 months.

He has gone through another growth spurt.  Unofficially, he is 18 pounds.  And he is starting to really play with toys.  We can't get over how much he has changed in the last two weeks!  We are unpacking the 6-9 month clothes and he is only 19 weeks old (4 months).

Jesse's First Christmas - all 5 of them

We made the 12 hour trip back to Ohio for Jesse's first Christmas.  Thankfully, we now do the trek in two days.  Day 1 is 6 hours to my little brother Dale's place in the Poconno's.  We spend the night and then day 2 is another 6 hours.  Stopping at Dale's add's about 10 minutes to the trip total, but is well worth it!

We must have looked comical driving down the road.  We took the VW Passat.  Since we were staying for 10 days, and it was Christmas, we had a 20 cubic foot cargo box on top.  Even with all this extra space, we were stacked to the ceiling inside the car on the trip back to NH.  Scott keeps teasing that our next vehicle is going to be a Uhaul truck.

We left after I finished work on Thursday late afternoon.  So we had to drive straight to the Heaton's Christmas Eve gathering (1).  On Christmas morning, we headed to Uncle Nick's place (2) to see Grandpa and Grandma Heaton, before they headed back to VA.  Then it was off to the Perkin's (3).  On Sunday the 26th, we spent the day at the Kuntzman's Christmas (4).  We wrapped it all up on Monday evening, as we celebrated with Grandma Shelia, Aunt Jenn, Uncle Chuck and the cousins (5).
